Welcome to Pink Dolphins and Blue Monkeys

We just have too much fun around here to let it slip by. I like to document the things my kids love most. Well, like pink dolphins and blue monkeys and painting, days at the park, fun foods, even tea parties. My hope is that you find some joy and inspiration.

What we learned from no media week

Last week my husband implemented a No Media/ Technology Week in our home.   From Sunday to Sunday no tv, internet, email, he even limited newspaper and radio.  We've done no media weeks before but I think I appreciated this past week more that the others.

A few things I learned from shutting off some technology:
A good book is just as entertaining as tv- probably more.
I finished Jodi Picoult's Lone Wolf last week- definitely worth the read!
I actually slept better not checking email before bed
Checking email is not a good way to unwind before bed
Things can actually wait- there really were no urgent emails to get back to - we really weren't missing anything.
I actually could skip checking email for a couple days at a time- nothing too urgent really
I enjoyed talking to friends on the phone that I normally would have emailed.
I tend to not be much of a phone person- but sitting down when the kids went to bed and calling a few people was actually very nice.

I'm actually looking forward to the next no media week!

2nd Birthday Cake

We celebrated Caleb's 2nd birthday last week!  He really had a fun time with his little truck party.  The cake came together after finding a few pictures on the internet.  My mom had brought chocolate seashells from the Keys- so we used those as the boulders and some graham cracker crumbs as dirt.  Caleb seemed thrilled with the end result which is all that matters!

February Recap

Even though we are really getting into March, I thought it would be fun to show a few pictures of what our February was like. Valentine's actually felt a lot like Christmas around here.  We did a Valentine's advent leading up to the day and all the sweet! We had to go on a sugar detox after February 14th.

We used little mailboxes from the Target Dollar Spot to hold little treats 14 days from Valentine's.  next year I may take it down to seven days as it got just a little much to do something for so long- though it was a really big hit!

Then, on our special day the kids and I made a heart pizza for our dinner and heart brownies.  Again another fun treat!
